All good

I took this photo of the fruit bowl last night and then the internet went down.  So I could not get ahead of myself.

And I am late in from the chores this morning.  Grace, fom Korea, has come and is sleeping in this morning and Berit is driving back from visiting with his family in Chicago. The fencing man is due any minute and the harvest table is covered with tomatoes, zuchinni and onions.

The bread is rising.

I am still hoping to be able to talk to the vet sometime soon about Daisy. Her other healthy  quarters have dropped production so dramatically that I think this may be a good opportunity to dry the cow up. I have got as much fluid out of the sick quarter as I can, it takes quite a while due to the swelling that I think it  is very slowly reducing.

Tima has been very naughty. Late yesterday afternoon after picking up Grace from the train which was late of course, I loaded the groceries into thekitchen then, hoping someone would put them away, I went straight back out to unload the chook food and milk the cow and feed the animals.  It was getting late.  Bad Tima got to the groceries before anyone else and managed to eat two bunches of bananas and a bag of apples before she was discovered and sent to bed without any supper… of course.

Now I must run and see how many tomatoes  I can get into the crock pot, try the vet again, make a quick quiche for lunch, do some fast repairs of the meat chickens ark (they leave tomorrow morning) and hang out the laundry  before the fencing man gets here and we start working with wire. I  hate working with wire.  It seems to me that I should be at least two people today. But our lunch will be delicious.  Caramalised onion quiche.

I hope you have a lovely busy day.

Your friend on the farmy

  1. Good morning! Firstly I’d like to say I’d love to taste that quiche! Secondly, I hope you are able to complete all that you were meant to complete today. As a person who grew up on a farm, and who wants to be back on a farm, I have to say thank you for offering us this glimpse into your day!! It reminds me of Gram’s kitchen. Have a great day! Marie

  2. I am laughing about Tima’s snacking. She is quite the character. Of course, you now have no apples or bananas, so that is not so funny.

  3. Umm maybe you should have specified put away in cupboard … Tima was putting it away, just not where you wanted it 🙂 Having two extra pairs of hands should come in handy today! Lalura

  4. You remind me of my dad that worked so hard from sunrise to sunset . He loved being a farmer. Try to slow down just a little and pass some of your workload on to others. Take care

  5. It’s at this time of year that I start counting days; only 19 more days of madness before I can take a breath and get on with the other projects that are put on hold during holiday baking season.
It’s all good, particularly since we as well can now enjoy tomatoes from our garden. The brandywines are delicious:-)

  6. Whoa! You do have lots going on today! So nice you will have two helpers to carry out tasks with you soon! xo

  7. When Tima eats things she shouldn’t does she get sick? Diarrhea? Do your cats and dogs eat grass and then throw up? My cat Arthur insists on it then gets sick–in the house of course. You might say “Don’t let him out!” but oh the moaning and gnashing of teeth if I don’t . Just wondering.
Hope you get hold of the vet today.

  8. I don’t think that even in my prime (to quote Miss Jean Brodie) could I have accomplished all that you set yourself! It makes me tired just reading about it! I hope your new guest enjoys herself as well as helping you.
Naughty Tima. She’s going to get sooooo fat!
    Love,
    ViVx
