Shifting Pigs

The girls and I finished cleaning out the barn yesterday. I have to admit it was a couple of  days of heavy work.  But in the end all the dirty straw was piled down the back in a new compost heap. It was steaming! And Sheila and Poppy have been moved back into their winter quarters for a few days.

I am away in the big city all day today, until tonight actually and the girls are in charge. I cannot leave them to manage Poppy the Escape Artist. She is a boisterous pig and uses her head the way pigs do, wacking them with the side of her head to move them along. She plays hard.  And is always where she should not be. So the pigs are back in the area she cannot escape from.   Better for the minders.

Of course she is not speaking to me now.

Sheila was more than happy to return to her original home. She likes the big king sized pig bed!

Her face is so long that when I focus on her eyes, her snout goes fuzzy. Low light though. No sun yesterday. No hay cut, too muddy. But I did let the calves into another field, they are loving it across the way.  Fresh clover! I will check them on the way to the train.

Right, I have my smokey blue city dress on, black footless tights, black ballet flats, black cardigan and a warm cashmere wrap (black of course) for this chilly morning (who turned the heat off?) and I am off now to catch my train.  I even have my rings on and my silver Journey Bangles that Maggie made and I designed. (She makes me two bangles every winter.) I won’t recognise myself in the shop window!.

Have you ever looked into a shop window and seen your Mother walking along?  That gives me such a fright. Then, of course, I see that it is just me. Then I think damn I am turning into my Mum.  Then I remember that she died much younger than I am now. So then I think maybe it is not that bad if I look younger than I am now. Then my Mother frowns at me in the window for thinking such thoughts and reminds me that only vain girls look in shop windows at their own floating reflections and I go back to watching the footpath, making sure I don’t step on a crack and marry a RAT!

Daughters never get to grow up!

I have a train to catch. Can you remember the last time I went anywhere? I can’t. Running out the door as we speak!

Have a lovely lovely day. I am wedding present shopping.. I am SURE to have a lovely day.

Book Stuff. Amazon is telling people there are no books left. That is wrong. There are still books for sale. The error will be fixed today.  If you have reserved a book it is HERE, ON MY SHELF so order it and I will send it.

Pay Pal.

International PayPal People.. email me at celima.g.7@gmail.com with your address. I will send your books and then immediately let you know how much it was and you can paypal me or send me a bank cheque.

American PayPal People… email me at celima.g.7@gmail.com.  I sent a number of books today and they averaged  $3.80+ 1.00 for the bag. So if you are only ordering ONE can we call it $5.00 for postage and packaging and a tracking number?  Once again email me. For multiples The Postmistress will weigh them then we will let you know.

PayPal and cheques are only  for  you: The Fellowship. So if you have friends wanting books (and I hope you do) direct them to Amazon, it is slightly more expensive but very easy for me to manage.  The Postmistress is going to take over when I am away in New Zealand. So lets hope we have the bulk of the books in your hands this month.

My pay pal account is my email address. This will also work  internationally.

Don’t forget to leave a review with Amazon.

OK I am out of here.. see ya!

  1. Even living in the city, as I do, it’s fun to have “a day out” in the city, not attired in work clothes but shopping clothes. I hope your day was fun, and productive. I’ve emailed you my shipping details as Amazon aren’t shipping to Aus. I haven’t noticed my reflection in the shop windows lately, possibly more focused and what they display but looking at our wedding pics I realized the G.O. married a hybrid of both my grandmothers, my mother & her sisters… it was quite amazing to see them all there with me 🙂

  2. Hope you have had a lovely and productive day. Found a great present. As sorry as I am I may have to cancel my book order as I cannot find a way to pay – Amazon US refuses to post to Australia [I was willing to buy just one at full price, but!!] . . . Amazon Australia [Booktopia, whom I use all the time] is unwilling to ‘import’ even after begging and pleading . . . . and for Paypal I would need a proper ‘safety guaranteed’ link on a printed business invoice which would connect me to my Paypal account and I really HAVE spent time on my homework re this with them also!! An email address is not acceptable here in Oz. To get a bank cheque in US dollars [remember there is quite some disparity in the values and this changes every day at the moment!] I would personally have go to my bank branch much closer to the city: the transport from here alone would be close to $40!! Writing at some length so you do understand some of us may have problems . . . perhaps we’ll find a way later . . .

    • Yes, add import luxury tax as well and you have SA covered as well. I am hoping in time for the ebook paid by credit card 😦 Laura

      • Thank God I do not think we have a ‘luxury tax’, but the ‘US dollars bank cheque’ sure costs extra!! I truly do not want to ‘rain’ on Celi’s parade and I would so like to see something for which I have written too, but am just saying it as it is . . .

    • Oh no..no travelling that far, just send the aussie dollars cheque to my daughter in melbourne and she will post your book when she gets back there in october.. I will email you her address.. there is ALWAYS a way eha mama.. email to follow.. c

  3. Just imagine when Poppy becomes as great as Sheila. Will they try to squash you between them until you do as they say? Mirror, Mirror on the wall; I am my mother after all. We need a picture of your city outfit. It sounds quite stylish.

  4. You sound so light and fancy-free in your glad-rags, going off on a spree. So different from handling those character-filled pigs!

  5. Okay, so I was a numbskull. I didn’t get that I was supposed to come directly to you for the books, so have ordered a couple through Amazon. But I’ll still happily send you $10 for the two I reserved on your shelf. I’ll drop you an email to that effect. 😀
    Love, your dimwitted but ever-faithful,
    Kath
