CAT – Ching the sun

Yesterday was fine and still and stunning. Cooler but just beautiful.

Cats love that kind of weather. Manouchki follows me everywhere, into the pig’s pen, the chook house, out into the field. He is a fearless wee cat. And Boo’s wish has come true because lately Manouchki  has been seen climbing into Boo’s outside bed (an old workshop drawer) with Boo. Boo goes really still, even lying slightly awkwardly so as not to startle the kitten into flight. He does like to sleep with cats.

We shifted the sheep across to the Big Barn yesterday. It took them some time to realise that there was a huge field with tons of shade just a few steps away. We had a few hiccups with the electric fences due to their wool being such a buffer. But by last night they had settled into grazing.

Marcel has become quite a menace. Trying to jump me and the dogs when we cross through the field.  He is getting big too. I think he will be better in a bigger field that I don’t have to walk through every day. The sheep have a lot of housekeeping to do over there at the West Barn. The weeds are huge!

Ton always swims looking up at me as if to say. “What was it you wanted me to DO in here?”

Jess and I are taking a mountain of packaged books off to the P.O. this morning. I think  I had better take deck chairs and a thermos as well. This will take some time. Thank Goodness the Post Mistress is one of The Fellowship!

I hope you have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farmy,

miss c

  1. Nanny Boo is a one in a million dog. Marcel probably does not realize he has gotten big….that’s what happens when they are raised kind of like pets. They get aggressive and don’t realize they could hurt you.

  2. Sweaters? Wraps? Just sweating here – in the 90’s but as my grandmother used to say when I was little and wanted to be older “don’t wish you life away” – weather is like that too?
So glad Boo has a congenial friend for sleepovers!
(WIll be sending a check for book+postage shortly)

  3. Love the photo of the 3 sheep grazing in unison. I’m sure your animals have been trained to please the eye of the camera. How could they not?
I laughed at this line about Boo: ‘He does like to sleep with cats.’ Are all animals as eccentric as yours, or is it just that with yours, we know about their funny ways?

  4. I’m glad Boo is getting some kitty love. Sounds like a busy day for the Postmistress! Ton is so handsome. Our little Marcel has grown up.
