Are you fretting yet?

As we wandered the streets of Chicago, Fede asked me endlessly – Are you worried about the animals yet? Will they be OK? Are you fretting?

I think he was more worried than I was as we wandered about the streets of Chicago.

Eating- ( and a teensy bit of drinking!).

whole foods

We went to Whole Foods too and Eataly. Galleries and Streets.

Lots of streets in a city. The city is a vast and glorious place. Do you love that header shot? I do. Here it is again just in case you missed it.

This was the door of an abandoned cinema? I am not sure.   I desperately want to get into that movie theater. But I was glad to get home.  Somehow everything seemed more enclosed than usual in the city. We were glad to get back to our wide open spaces. Though I love the city.  Can you sense a dichotomy?

cows

The pasture had grown in our 8 hour absence. This week we must get the electric fences set up!

The hay is drying!  (small, cautious yay!) I hope you have a lovely day.

Love your friend on the farm,

  1. Oh my those pastries look scrumptious! Worked in France for a time and put on so much weight because of the choice of pastries – one of my weaknesses!
Hope the sun continues to shine on your hay Miss C.

  2. I’m so glad you had a good time. Fetting Fede reminded me of the first holiday (a long weekend) in four years after my babies were born. We fretted the whole time, and I had to be constantly restrained from ringing Grandma to see how they were.

I’m not mad about cities – except in y small doses – but Chicago looks very interesting – specially that patisserie!
    Enjoy your day,
    love,

  3. I am laughing out loud at your dichotomy. It has an ocean running through it! Love it! I think those contradictions in ourselves make us stable on solid. Those are our two legs. Love from Italy.

  4. Oh – but the photo opportunities in the cities…. I love architectural photography …. it runs a close second to floral photography. Both make my back hurt – but in different ways – architectural hurts my neck and shoulders because I’m doing a back bend the whole time I’m in the city trying to get the tops of buildings. Lower back & knees hurt from bending or squatting doing floral photography. God forbid I spend much time in NYC or any other city that would temp me with BOTH!!!!

  5. Miss C, you did your hair specially, and put on your city girl boots! I hope Fede was impressed. Lovely food shots, lovely scenery, even lovelier to be home, I suspect. I shall dream you some more hay drying weather tonight.

  6. I feel as Viv does, cities give me anxiety and I can only spend small amounts of time in them. Did you bring any of those pastries back to the farm to share?

  7. I too love the city, especially Chicago. Such wonderful sites and history. Yet somehow the country calls my name more loudly and there is never a sense of peace in the city. At least not for me.
