Every few hours for the last few nights I have been up to check Poppy’s Sty TV but nothing. She is way past her due date now and there is milk in that udder but still no babies. Poppy does not have a perfect udder. She only had five piglets at her first farrowing and this resulted in some of the teats going blind.
Though the nine piglets she had in her second farrowing were more than happy.
She has never had trouble before so I can only conclude that the date is wrong. So we wait.
lady Astor still has a ways to go thankfully. I hope these animals behave and don’t give birth too close together.
I put the meat chickens out on the grass yesterday. They poo way too much to be raised inside. It is much cleaner to drag their house along the pasture – not to mention the fertiliser for the grass.
I am so tired now.
I will get going again. Lots to do . And I need to prepare for my new guest.
The weather is superb today. I hope you have a lovely day.

I hope you have mastered the Power Nap! Once you get going, I can only imagine you are carried along by your own inertia! Have a wonderful day!
Wish you to have a beautiful & lovely Sunday, Celi.
Poor you and Poppy – I bet she’s tired of it all too and that’s before it’s started 🙂
Poppy must be so tired of waiting too. Hopefully today is the day!
What a pretty little flower. I love red flowers. More caffeine or a nap? Waiting for animals to give birth is nerve wracking tho they have been doing it for thousands of years successfully, we still worry. Enjoy your Sunday C.
Poppy looks well and truly ready to drop, I hope she’s obliging enough to space her action out with Lady A. I also hope you can hold out till your new help arrives, and that she hits the ground running!
Oh dear! It doesn’t sound like you can have a lazy Sunday — animals don’t know it’s the weekend! I hope you manage to get some rest, perhaps a power nap, as one of your readers suggested.
I’m sorry Poppy is snatching a bit of your rest with no piglets as a bonus. Hoping for all to go well. Naps are good for the heart as the studies have shown. Firm believer in them.
Broken nights are exhausting and you never really seem to catch up that lost sleep. Poppy certainly doesn’t look like she can go another week. Laura
Hang in their Miss C.. hopefully wee piglets soon and a week or so for your calf, glad you had a nice day and that 3 months of help will arrive soon, time to teach, time to rest.. your meat chicks look good..
dont forget to stop and rest. Genius you may be but even genius needs to rest the brain
I hope it’s today. Nice and sunny ; )
Thank goodness the sun is out. It helps so much to give you the added boost when you’re exhausted. I hope you can sneak in a nap today, Miss C.
A quick 10- 15 minute nap seems to help me…I hope you can have one or two during today!
Your meat chickens are looking plump and healthy. Hope you can squeeze a break in here and there during this pregnant pause. Have a great Sunday, Monday…
You must be exhausted. Hope all goes well and with good timing!
So much hope in that last image, the best colors at their brightest! I see energy there too. Good place to rest and restore.
Fingers crossed for lots of babies today!
oh my….have a quiet uneventful day!
I’m not good at waiting… outwardly I may look cool, calm and collected but if something serious is in the wings I’m like lets’s get this party started. Good luck ♡
Thinking of you and the farmy and the mothers-to-be and hoping that whilst we all were commenting around our own time zones the fact that there have been no comments from you may mean some local action . . . the bestest . . .
I have never seen pig teats before. I was amazed how many there are.
J > How does the shed get dragged along? ‘Our John – with a tractor’?
Get some rest sweet friend. We think of you often. Wish I was closer to help you out. XOXO – Bacon
Was just checking in to see if there was any news when I saw the beautiful baby bull! Congratulations! Hope all is going well…
Same here…. so I guess this is why we haven’t heard from your quarter today. Congrats to you and your new mammas, hope all’s well. ~ Mame 🙂
