Imagine coming back from your walk to find that a fat golden pig has not only been eating your dinner but gone to sleep IN it!
A little Goldilocksy except for the bit where Goldilocks leaps up and runs home. I have always thought that Goldilocks was a terrible example for children. Other than the breaking and entering and the vandalism, and obvious air of entitlement, the least she could have done was apologise as she ran off. Did you know that the original version was about an old woman who broke into the home of three bachelor bears – when they come back and discover her she leaps up and jumps out the window. I find this story slightly more acceptable. But still dubious.
This little vandal just sleeps the sleep of the just. And the little bears have to eat their breakfast around her sleeping body.
John’s worst nightmare is when he parks his truck and it is immediately swarmed with cats and birds being nosy.
Poppy has finished her treatments for lice. (The vet said this is not unusual for this time of year especially after such a dark damp winter). I will inspect her today, give her one last rub all over with the DE then bring her back home to prepare for farrowing (which won’t be for a while I hope – it is too cold yet). I will swap her for Molly who will go over to the West Barn to live with the boar for a while. Sheila has already been moved into her summer garden and very happy to be living alone again, thank you very much. She does not like other pigs touching her things. Sharing her body heat with Molly for the winter months was such a trial for her.
She is happy to wait the last few weeks of wintry weather by herself.
I hope you have a lovely day.

ROFL – I knew it had to be Tima.
I’m sure Sheila would be most upset if Goldilocks came to visit her – it’s a good job that cows have a gentle nature.
These calves were so sweet about it. c
I’ll be up your way for a week at the end of the month. Maybe I’ll squeeze in a visit.
YES! And I will drop into the PO and get all my NZ packages sent away – they are still sat on the table! Bad Mama!
It is especially rude how said fat pig rolls over on her side completely blocking them from their dinner. Poor cows!
Exactly – rude pig.. PLUS she was snoring! Even ruder. c
OMG! That was a perfect way to start the day. That Tima, what a stitch. I agree about Goldilocks, most fairy tales have never appealed much to me.
They were pretty grim (blame the Brothers GRIMM) – however they were often moral tales too and I cannot work half them out. c
Sounds like life is in full swing )
Yes – we are certainly winding up!
This is hysterical!
I could not believe how they just tiptoes around her trying to pull hay out from under her – poor hungry little bears.
I agree wholeheartedly on the Goldilocks story. In fact I feel like most fairytales are dubious at best, terrifying at worst.
I can relate to Sheila. I hope she enjoys her solitary state. If she accepts pats, give her a couple from me.
The truck pictures is adorable. 🙂
She LOVES pats – especially if she is alone – she will lie down and let me sit down and lean up against her when it is just us two.
Finders keepers says Tima 😆 Laura
Mine Mine Mine Hay!!
And “First come, first served.”
(P.S., I think Goldilocks might want to organize a protest: taking photographs without her permission, and while she was sleeping! Our governor is is in trouble for the permission thing.)
OH dear –
Those calves seemed to take it all in stride.
Yup – they are not bothered.
Timatanga Moana has No Shame. She is the most pigcentric creature… Look at that big pink belly, so fat that her little legs don’t even touch the ground. Miss Sheila is a goddess of calm, good manners and sleekness by comparison 😉
Yes – Sheila is very sleek – she is such a steamer that pig c
Ha! That is one way to keep others from eating ‘your’ food…sleep on it. xx
I often wonder how the animals get along, if if there are not frequent fracas between the species.
It is fun to imagine that pig starring in any number of fairytales.
Sheila and Tima are characters!
That is such a great image. “dear, there’s a swine in our breakfast. guess we can eat around her.”
“Swarmed with cats and birds”, would be a nightmare! Prints and poo everywhere! Ha ha! That’s going to have me laughing to myself all day long!
