SOMETIMES there are little Instagram videos that you just can’t miss. This is a milestone moment. I gave the ducklings a dish of water and they took to it – Like Ducks to Water!
Here are the stills from the same session. They are loving their bigger area – I am not quite ready to let them out into their run yet but soon they can take their water out there. They are not choosing to sleep under their heat lamp at all. And only a week old so I am not sure what that is about. I may have to herd them into a warm space for tonight when it gets cold again.
They are so like penguins.
More weeding in the asparagus beds for me today. There is no rain in the forecast for a while but lots of sun coming with mild temperatures. A Stitch in time saves Nine applies to the gardens so I am determined to get ahead of the weeds before they get out of hand. Last year they were way out of hand.
Look at WaiWai (above) standing so close to Tima. He is getting braver.
OK – off to work for me!
Have a lovely day.

I watched seven whistling duck babies bathing in the wild this weekend. Yours are just as adorable, and they’re easier to photograph!
I spent way too much time in there yesterday photographing them!..c
Lovely to see your flocks gathered out of doors to enjoy some fresh air. And WaiWai feeling strong & secure. And Tima behaving herself.
They love their afternoons in the sun and no sign of the Bastard Mink lately
Tima behaving herself is not a common sight!
Love the duck video….they are sooooooooo cute! And it’s good to see Wai out and about.
I think ducks are hardier than chickens. In the wild they’d be out swimming with their parents on a freezing cold lake or river by that age.
Yes! That’s what I remind myself too. They are going to love it when they finally get outside
Adorable ❤️🐥🦆
Ducks are so adorable! Wish I could have a few – it is officially JUNE BUG season in Texas and I can’t stand the popping against the windows this time of year. Or the crunch if you happen to step on one. Ick!
FYI: the post date says 4/16 and is not at the top of the blog. Not sure what’s going on with that, but I found the post.
I saw that too. How very odd.
I hadn’t realized that their beaks are blue! So lovely!
I love seeing all the animals together. The ducklings are DARLING. We all need that don’t we: water, sunlight, food, sleep and play. Throw in work for us humans and that just about wraps it up.
The ducklings are all wearing outsized black gumboots! They’re enchanting…
Those legs and feet look so black now they are out in the light
Your video is marvellous. The ducklings are darling. And it’s wonderful to see all the farm outside and enjoying relative freedom after a long winter inside. Your asparagus yesterday had my mouth watering. I remember well those days but it has been many years since I grew it. Hope you have a lovely day too. – Mame 🙃
Asparagus is only good fresh from the garden- I hope mine grows well this year! I have SO many orders
Seeing those fuzzy ducklings all huddled together is a wonderful sight.
Aren’t they funny!
Thank you for such a happy video. Those ducks warm the old cockles here!
I thought you might like it!
Lovely, fun video! Reminds me that it nearly time to open our swimming pool and let my B-I-G rubber ducky out to swim and play! I’ll be joining him as the afternoons and nights start to warm. Fresno – 90 deg. today, but not so warm here in the mountains!
Ninety! Oh Lordy
I love your barnyard photo of the chickens and pigs with the peacock. Just a happy photo. Ducklings are just wonderful.
It says it all!
When they get a little bigger, you’ll have to get them a big plastic kiddy pool to play in!
I love their little blue beaks!
Oh those little duckies are so cute!!! Yeh they need a little tiny doll pool to float around in!!! And WaiWai looks great!!! Love that picture with all those chickens, along with Wai and Tima and a guinea hen AND Mr Peacock!!! Except where’s my BooBoo and TonTon??? Enjoy this beautiful spring weather!!!!
A friend hatched some ducklings under one of his bantams, and at only hours old they happily flung themselves into the garden pond, much to the horror and dismay of Mother Bantam. It was heartbreaking to see her running around the pond frantically calling to them…….she knew “her” babies shouldn’t be swimming.
Oh the poor wee banty! They are such good mums.
Love it!
