When I got in from the last of the evening chores there was a firefly in my boot – winking up at me. Here they call them lightening bugs.

Although this all looks very peaceful, we had a busy day yesterday. The six little pigs were shifted into where the four big pigs had been.
And we finally finished the electric fence around last years wild garden for the cows so I opened that gate and very slowly the cows and calves filtered up into that small but luscious field.

The sunset was in all the windows by the time we were done.

At last – the winking boot.

Today is Valeries last day. She leaves at lunchtime. She has been wonderful company and a marvelous worker.
Though I am tired, we got lots of the list completed.
I hope you have a lovely day.

Cats both appreciate, and are, such good quiet company 🐱
Sunset burning in the windows of the old barn bathed in twilight sliding into night..

It looks like a night-light.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a firefly…I feel I’ve missed out!
We used to get fireflies at the cottage but they’ve been few and far between. It’s been stinking hot here too, not pleasant at all.
I haven’t seen any “night fairies” <–my word, this year. Too wet maybe? July is here and supposedly hot, so I'm hoping. Isn't that good luck? Definitely a good omen those critters…
