Walkabout a sleepy farmy

A sleepy Sunday on the farmy for everyone but the farmers!

How come they all get to doze while we rush about with wheelbarrows and fence posts.

Life is good for  little Queenie.

At least, with Daisy, we have a date as to when she is due to calve, or at least a week. In Late May. We will not have to deal with this guess work that we are having with you know who, who is walking like a cowboy because of her you know what.   I promise you next year Hairy MacLairy is wearing a harness with chalk in it so we know when they snuck off .  No guess work next year.

But Daisy is looking beautifully round!

OI! What are you doing in here.

What?

What are you doing in the garage? And what are you doing standing on top of the Convertible! That is Our John’s prized Chrysler 66.

What? Tock. Tock. Are you talking to me?

Yes I am talking to you.  You naughty peacock. Now, Kupa, stop that immediately and get off that car and get back to the barn. Peacocks do not belong in garages.  Garages are ugly.

Whaaa? Tock. Tock.

This is a garage. For cars. And cars are not for peacocks.  Back to the barn NOW Duke of Kupa or you are going to be in big trouble if John finds you on his car.

What? Who?

Duke or not you are going straight to bed.

Tock. Tock. Telling John!

Kupa! BED!

Good morning. Luckily TonTon has a lot of practise herding birds so we were able to gently move Kupa back to his pen before he was discovered gallivanting about on top of The Special car! I am going to have to start shutting garage doors. He is a nosy peacock.

However the new internal fence was finished. The new gate was put in.  Well, new old, Johns found it at a friends place. This is a lovely heavy gate and good for viewing from. When people come to visit they like to lean and watch the large animals graze. Or sleep.  Not the visitors the animals. This is such an awkward shot of Mama with Hairy through the fence behind her.  But the gate is great!  Daisy cannot undo this latch.

Good morning. Today, with the tractor, TonTon and I will be hauling away the manure piles and turning compost down the back.   All this compost is for next spring. We let manure break down for a year.

Have a great morning.. …

  1. Good morning! Loving Daisy’s roundness. A friend of mine is expecting on the 17th, and I’ve been thinking maybe she and Mama (at whom we are not looking) might be tracking with each other. I think Melinda will be early, so we’ll see.

  2. Chalk harness?! Every so often your blog gets me feeling like keeping my legs crossed!
Got our riding mower fixed and running this weekend, now to rake the yard, check the asparagus, roto-till the garden and maybe take some pics of our flowering stuff for you to see soon.
Along with trying to get work or a real job! Nothing on my plumbing schedule until Saturday.

  3. I’m just chuckling away…Just look what I learned today! Crayon or chalk harnesses! I certainly lead a sheltered life–ha! But it sounds like a good idea to me…this waiting must be hard when you have so many things to attend to. Like piles of manure! I don’t know a soul who works harder than you, Celi, and the deep sense of satisfaction you convey in maintaining these rhythms is just wonderful! Debra

  4. TonTon is just the perfect companion on the farm :). And look at the beautiful Daisy :). You definitely caught her good side and I can’t wait to see her newborn. It will be so beautiful 🙂

  5. What? No TonTon in that last shot? He’s become such a ham, or maybe more like such a companion, I’m always surprised when he’s NOT in a shot. Everyone is looking good on the farmy, and guess Ser Kupa will have to mind himself around the prized car if he wants to stay that way…he looks like he feels quite at home with that car. 🙂

  6. Looks like Kupa is finding his feet and taking his place on the farmy. He is very nosey and getting more confident every day – before you know it, he will be up on your verandah, demanding his dinner there! 😉
The gate looks fabulous – nice and sturdy to lean on and gaze at the animals chillin’ out!

  7. Always great to have a walk about the farmy, Celi, and thanks for taking us along. Kupa is really settling, especially if he’s checking out the wheels. For the most part, I found TonTon pretty easily except in that second pic of Queenie. Was that him dressed up like a tree trunk? He’s getting good at this.

  8. Impressive gate. Darling Daisy looks dandy. Mea Kul’pa seems an appropriate choice of terms. He is a beauty though. How are the chicks?
