Good Bees.. Close Up

Only two pictures today… because yesterday nothing topped the honey in Nefertiti’ s House..

abwednesday-0141

and the Brood in Cleopatra’s.

abwednesday-011

These are hand held shots so the images are not brilliantly sharp at this magnification. But … wow.  I could not resist. They had a tough spring with all the rain and storms and cool weather. So both colonies are still small but they are trucking along:  Good Bees!

And that is all for today because all the other pictures paled in comparison!

Have a lovely, lovely day.

  1. Amazing, C…looks like we might have a Bountiful Year after all!
(First buds on the tomatoes yesterday…not as exciting or photogenic as your bees, but we’re jumping for JOY!)

  2. Your hives look great Celi! We are so hoping we get honey this year. We lost a hive over the winter, and then had to requeen and the lost hive and add brood and bees from the surviving hive, then it wasn’t doing so well so we had to combine the hives. I looks like it is doing well….fingers crossed. Being such new beekeepers it seems as it’s trial and error right now. xo

  3. Some days less is simply more! Wonders of nature we get ‘to keep’ because of your great photos . . . .

  4. I have always secretly fancied being a beekeeper one day. Beautiful and underrated creatures.

    Thank you for sharing!

  5. These pictures are beautiful and fascinating…what are those little blobs at the back of each hexagonal shaped hold that look like curled up white worms? Is that honey? or baby bees? I’m so confused and ignorant about this amazing stuff.

    • Those little blobs are larvae, baby bees, they are being attended to and fed by the nurse bees.. fantastic isn’t it! The honey is in the first shot.. and looks quite simply like honey.. c
