A wee dollop of sweetness

Marmalade was a busy little kitten yesterday.

He is a natural performer. And with all the animals I had to show the children yesterday, this wee kitten was the one who pocketed hearts in all directions.

Later, Sunday being Sunday, the dogs and I went for a long walk.

Then it being Sunday still,  there was napping in front of the fire.

Eventually.

Didn’t that look for all the world like the end bit of a rugby match when both teams lineup and with incredibly bad grace shake hands.  “Yeah right mate, I’ll shake your hand but I’ll see you in hell before I like it.”

A moulting chicken, looking like my grandmothers 50 year old well worn Axminster carpet. Someone plucked the felt out of the Feltex. Not pretty. Moulting chooks are never comfortable, they scuttle more and develop furtive chilly expressions. It will be over soon little chook,  your winter coat is growing – off you go to bed.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

  1. I always feel sorry for moulting chickens. Suddenly, temperatures drop and they’re half naked! Ours all look like some kind of heart breaking advert begging for donations to abused hens!

  2. The rugby anology is very apt, especially as it looks like the piggies are going the ruck in the 2nd picture! As for the chook, well nuclear is a word that springs to mind.

  3. I love the old Axminster carpet analogy. It is a very perceptive description. Our fine cockerel has no long tail feathers until they grow back but he struts as proudly as ever, oblivious to his missing plume. Marmalade is adorable, he is pocketing hearts here too.

  4. that’s the saddest chicken I’ve ever seen LOL…and the kitten is so dear, flourishing in kitten-ness I’d say…and as for that walk with the dogs, what can make the heart happier than all those ears flying up with the joy of heading out?

    • Nope, now that it is on he will do everything he can to keep it on. In fact he has already ripped it twice so it is sown on. But the poor old fella is so old now, I have not the heart to leave him cold just for the sake of washing it. And deep down we have to prepare ourselves for burying him in it. Though John says i say that every winter! c
