A Screaming Gale or Two ripped Through.

Yesterday the wind howled all day. Every now and then it would rise up to a biting scratching squall then drop back to a gale. It was not that cold or anything but it was furiously noisy.  We forget how noisy the world gets in a wind like that. Wild.

It blew my hair almost straight. Almost. However we pushed on with the list and achieved almost everything. It was a short list being Sunday and all.

And you need to find some time on a Sunday for a wee lie down and a ponder.

Daisy was milked, the sheep were moved, fences fixed, holes dug and laundry collected from the field, returned to the washing machine and rehung but no pegs invented can hold washing on the line in a wind like this. Actually proper clothes line pegs are on my list to buy when I go home….

…along with a Norsewear Jersey and some real sheepskin ugg boots for around the house. Only around the house mind you, no self respecting New Zealander would wear them OUT! Shudder.

Look how peaceful all these Sunday images are.  The wine was ready to be decanted into the glass vats and now it will sit for some time. It has a lot of work to do.

The barn rocked and creaked and hurled abuse at the storms, but in the Daily View it sits solidly like a little pointy wooden mountain.

Warm. Lovely and warm yesterday. Good day for the grass to grow.

Good morning my darlings and welcome to the new Farmy readers.  Today if the weather is kind to me I shall do a farmy walk, so we can do a catch up on everyone, and you can get all the names attached to the animals.  There is quite a cast. Tomorrow you will see some changes in the Daily View as that bloody wind spent all yesterday afternoon prematurely ripping the leaves off the trees.

Have a lovely day.

On this day a year agoOne day we put on a play. This is one of my favourite stories from when I was a teacher in New Zealand. We had the best times with my tough bunch of kids.

  1. Hi Celi
Up early with new dog as she was restless and tends to eat her bed…and I have enough to do without mending dog beds…again. Molly is more puppy than dog.
Winter must be coming if you are having winds like that.
Going to read now and catch up with the farmy.
Will be heading out midweek to see daughter for a bit (who gave me Uggs to wear indoors which I love and did …but Molly wants to nibble them…my feet are not prey!)
Lovely pictures – they seem especially bright and clear.
    Have a nice day!

  2. The wind was here yesterday, and this morning is more of the same…glad you had no damage.
I hate when the leaves get stripped before they reach full color. So far, there are still plenty…
    At least it’s warm!
    Have a great day!

  3. I was thinking how much I loved the Daily View and now you say it changed already! What a wind! You have more weather changes in 24 hours than I think I experience in any one month! I know there can be havoc, but it must also be a bit exhilarating–or is that me thinking I’d like to experience some “real” weather? The photos showing the sky captivate me. Simply beautiful! I hope today is a calm one and the week moves as it should! Including cooperation from the milking machine, Celi! Debra

  4. I hate wind: internal and external. You can actually see the wind in that daily view pic. My laundry is in the bathroom. I like the sound of ugg boots – a lovely onomatopoeic word.

  5. Nice picture of Daisy and Bobby Blanc together but seperate. Oooh you’ve just reminded me how much I miss my Ugg boots – wore them out years ago, (sob). I am glad the gale didn’t blow you all away. Laura

  6. Another hard frost overnight; turned on heating because my fingertips are turning a funny colour. I’m not a happy girl when I can’t feel the pen in my hand. Mr Misky’s still bent over with painful back, and trying to keep him from ‘doing stuff because he’s bored’ is proving tricky. It seems that your winter weather arrives sooner than here. I feel for you – I’m not ready for winter. Love to you and the farmy.
