Slowly the colour is draining from the landscape. Very slowly. Inexorably. Without pity. Even though it is still a New Zealand winter the green is going.

CALLING IT A NIGHT
… in the middle of the afternoon. Yesterday darkness fell about 3.30pm. A storm was rolling in. All the animals took note and began to take their places in their barns. ‘Calling it a night.’ Early.

Manu slept the night in his little tin house. He had two bales of dry golden straw in there and has made himself a big warm bed.
